AD&D 2026-2027 President Dr. Temeshia Lemons

Dear AD&D Community,
It is an honor to serve as President of the Association of Deans and Directors of University Colleges and Undergraduate Studies (AD&D). I am grateful for the opportunity to lead an organization that plays such a critical role in advancing student success and strengthening undergraduate education across our institutions.
In my role as Director of Advising at Montclair State University, my work centers on supporting students in transition, strengthening advising practices, and advancing initiatives that promote persistence and success. Through this work, I have developed a deep appreciation for the role University Colleges and Undergraduate Studies units play in shaping the student experience.
My connection to AD&D has been rooted in the opportunity to engage with colleagues who are equally committed to this work. What continues to stand out is the organization’s strong sense of community and the meaningful connections that come from shared dialogue, collaboration, and professional exchange. Our size and structure allow us to remain highly engaged, connected, and responsive - qualities that distinguish AD&D and make our work especially impactful.
As higher education continues to evolve, our collective efforts remain essential in ensuring that students are not only retained but meaningfully supported, engaged, and prepared for what lies ahead.
As President, my focus will center on three key priorities:
-
Strengthening Community and Connection: Continuing to foster the close-knit, collaborative environment that defines AD&D, while creating intentional opportunities for members to engage, share best practices, and learn from one another.
-
Advancing Student-Centered Innovation: Highlighting and supporting approaches that improve access, advising, and the undergraduate experience - particularly for students in transition or exploration phases.
-
Strengthening Leadership Excellence and Sustainability: Building on the strong foundation of our organization by ensuring that our leadership remains intentional, engaged, and forward-thinking. This includes cultivating and supporting leaders committed to AD&D's mission, while maintaining the quality, collaboration, and sense of community that distinguish our organization.
I encourage each of you to stay actively engaged by participating in committees, attending professional development opportunities, and sharing your experiences with colleagues who may benefit from this community. Our strength lies in our collective expertise and our shared commitment to student success.
I look forward to working alongside you during this upcoming year and to continuing the important work that defines AD&D.
With appreciation and in partnership,
Dr. Temeshia N. Lemons President, AD&D Montclair State University
