WEBINAR: Data Informed: Student Success Strategies

Speaker: Christina Downey; Indiana University Indianapolis

Session Description:
Dr. Downey has been leading a cross-functional team from advising and institutional analytics to develop a predictive model for targeted support of first-year students to promote success and retention. Over two years and considering over 100 institutional datapoints, the team has discovered the key factors that have the strongest independent associations with first-semester GPA, as well as the live indicators at key points in the semester that point to greater challenge. IU Indianapolis is applying these findings to a comprehensive advising, communication, and outreach strategy presently being deployed on our highly-decentralized campus. This presentation will present the philosophy of the project, the findings of the model, and early progress on implementation.
